x Heucherella 'Stoplight' (Foamy Bells) is a compact perennial forming a showy mound of large shocking-yellow leaves overlaid with distinctive red veins in spring. The leaves change to lime green with red veins during the hot summer months. In late spring, sprays of small white flowers are borne on slender stems rising up to 16 in. (40 cm) above the foliage. A traffic stopper that is a great choice for adding drama to mixed containers, rock gardens, and the front of the border. Noted for its tolerance to heat and humidity, it is evergreen in mild climates.
- Grows up to 6-16 in. tall (15-40 cm) with a spread of 14 in. (35 cm).
- Performs best in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in partial shade or shade. Mulch annually.
- A spectacular addition to beds and borders, woodland gardens, and rock gardens and is ideal as an edger along paths or in containers. Fabulous when planted in groups!
- Remove stems of faded flowers and dead leaves.
- Keep an eye out for vine weevils and rust diseases.
- Propagate by division in autumn.
- Divide every few years.
