In early summer, it bears masses of brilliant pink flowers on branched stalks rising up to 16 in. (40 cm) above the foliage. A great bloomer for shady woodland gardens, rock gardens, containers, or mixed borders. Evergreen in mild climates.

  • Grows up to 7-16 in. tall (17-40 cm) with a spread of 14 in. (35 cm).
  • Performs best in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. If the soil is moist, a shadier position may be tolerated. Mulch annually.
  • A spectacular addition to beds and borders, and woodland gardens and is ideal as a groundcover, as an edger along paths, or in containers. Fabulous when planted in groups!
  • Remove stems of faded flowers and dead leaves.
  • Keep an eye out for vine weevils and rust diseases.
  • Can be propagated by division. Lift the plant once in spring growth, taking small vigorous sections from around the edge. Each section should have good roots and 2-3 shoots.
  • Divide every few years.
