Noted for its handsome foliage and profuse blooms, Tiarella 'Spring Symphony' (Foam Flower) is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial forming a lush mound of deeply-lobed, olive green leaves marked with dark purple along the midribs and central veins. In late spring to early summer, charming pink-tinged flower buds gracefully evolve into starry, creamy white flowers on 3 in. long racemes (7 cm). Borne atop erect stems well above the foliage, they are so abundant that their floral show is quite spectacular. Use as a groundcover in the woodland or shade garden. Good under shrubs or roses. Evergreen in mild winter climates.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 6-12 in. tall and wide (15-30 cm).
  • Performs best in cool, moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade or full shade. Protect from excessive winter wet.
  • A pretty addition to beds and borders, woodland gardens, cottage gardens or rock gardens. Great as a groundcover, for edging or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Generally pest and disease free. Keep an eye out for slugs. Deer resistant.
  • Propagate by division in spring.
