Noted for its long blooming season and exquisite double flowers, Geranium 'Southcombe Double' is a semi-evergreen perennial with masses of salmon-pink, double flowers resembling powder puffs. Single at first when they appear in late spring, the 5-petalled blossoms are adorned with plenty of petalloid stamens in mid-summer, giving them this double look. Blooming until fall, the flowers rise above the foliage of finely cut, medium green leaves which display faint internodal blotches. Compact, with one of the longest flowering periods of the hardy geraniums, it is an ideal element of the perennial border. Plant it where the beauty of its flowers can be enjoyed. Excellent ground cover too.

  • Grows up to 16 in. tall (40 cm) and 24 in. wide (60 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade in moderately fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Full sun in mild summer gardens, morning sun, and afternoon shade in hot summers. Deer and rabbits resistant.
  • Great for beds and borders, underplanting shrubs and roses, banks and slopes, excellent ground cover, and lovely addition to cottage gardens.
  • Requires very little maintenance and is generally not subject to serious pest or disease issues. May be occasionally affected by vine weevil, capsid bug, sawflies, and powdery mildew.
  • Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage the production of fresh leaves and flowers
  • Propagate by division in spring or take basal cuttings in early to mid-spring and root with bottom heat
