Salvia 'Phyllis Fancy' is a vigorous and elegant evergreen Sage that will reward you with masses of sturdy, fuzzy, lavender white flower spikes cupped in beautiful dark blue bracts from mid-summer to frost. About 1 foot long (30 cm), these very attractive flower stalks are of great aesthetic appeal in beds or borders and attract scores of butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial insects.

  • Well-branched and very free-flowering, 'Phyllis Fancy' grows up to 4 – 5 feet tall and across (120 – 150 cm). It features an elegant, upright form and crinkled, aromatic, sage-green leaves.
  • Pair it with hot-colored annuals or perennials to cool down their saturated colors or use it as a dramatic, misty blue background behind low-growing orange or yellow flowers such as Marigolds or Zinnias. It also looks incredible when planted in mass or used as an upright accent plant.
  • Hardy to zones 7-10, it thrives in full sun or light shade, in moist, well-drained soils. It is not fussy about soils as long as there is good drainage. Water and fertilize regularly to keep it flowering.
  • Deer resistant
  • Cut it to the ground in early spring
  • Named for Phyllis Norris, this salvia is thought to be a hybrid between the Mexican Bush Sage (Salvia leucantha) and Chiapas Sage (Salvia chiapensis).
