Salvia Indiglo Girl (Sage)

Perfect for small spaces, Salvia ‘Indiglo Girl’ is a lovely upright perennial boasting large, rich and vibrant blue flowers adorned with contrasting dark calyxes. The blossoms are densely arranged in whorls around the stems and bloom from late spring into early summer. A cross between Salvia nemorosa and Salvia pratensis, it will rebloom if sheared back.

  • This superb cultivar is really an interesting plant that makes an attractive accent in perennial borders, butterfly gardens, cottage gardens. Combines beautifully with yellow Achillea (Yarrow), daylilies or interspersed with roses. Very useful and adaptable in the garden, it is trouble-free and easy to grow.
  • Reliable, this erect, bushy herbaceous perennial grows in round clumps of dark-green, aromatic wavy-edged leaves, up to 20-22 in. tall and wide (50-55 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun (light shade is tolerated) in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils. Sandy or gravelly soils with good drainage are preferred.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Deer resistant, it is a real magnet for butterflies, hummingbirds and bees!
  • Remove spent flower spikes to promote further blooms and cut back after flowering is over.
  • Propagate by division in spring and by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
