In early summer, small, fragrant creamy-white flowers are borne in drooping cymes. Rich in nectar, they are highly attractive to bees. The blossoms are followed by small nutlets that ripen in late summer. Smooth and thin on your trees, the bark develops deep grooves on mature trees. Root suckers often grow around the trunk. European linden is a very old hybrid between two native European lindens, T. cordata and T. platyphyllos. A beautiful shade, street or lawn tree.
