Rosa Strawberry Hill (English Rose)

Awarded the Prix d’Honneur for fragrance from Nantes in 2007, Strawberry Hill is an English Rose that is simply irresistible! Bred by David Austin, ‘Strawberry Hill’ features medium-sized, pure rose pink, cupped rosettes that gradually fade at the edges to light pink and eventually reveal the yellow stamen at the center. They beautifully contrast with the large, glossy leaves of this healthy bush.

Bred by David Austin, 'Strawberry Hill' features medium-sized, pure rose pink, cupped rosettes that gradually fade at the edges to light pink and eventually reveal the yellow stamen at the center. They beautifully contrast with the large, glossy leaves of this healthy bush. Added to its luscious beauty is the strong myrrh and honey fragrance of this garden star.

  • Vigorously growing into an informal shrub, 4 ft. tall and across (120 cm), Strawberry Hill is a wonderful choice for a position to the rear of a mixed border, or for a border of shrub roses. Spectacular when combined with the cool blue colors of salvia, nepeta or lavender. An excellent choice for containers too. Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck. Excellent cut flowers.
  • Reliable and easy to grow, this rose blooms in flushes from late spring until frost and is an excellent repeat bloomer.
  • Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Rose 'Strawberry Hill' was named to commemorate a beautiful house at Twickenham, built by Horace Walpole in the style of the Gothic revival.
  • David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As a Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease resistance, and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
