Extremely healthy and nearly thornless, English Rose Kew Gardens boasts a profusion of small, single flowers (4-8 petals) clustered in very large heads somewhat like a hydrangea. The flowers are pure white, opening from soft apricot buds, with a hint of soft lemon behind their stamens.

They give way to small red hips which should be removed to encourage repeat flowering. The flowers are so abundant that they almost fully cover the bush, somewhat like snow in summer. Introduced by David Austin in 2009.

  • Blooming in flushes from late spring to fall, this rose is an excellent repeat bloomer
  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
  • Grows up to 5 ft. tall (150 cm) and 3 ft. across (90 cm).
  • Forms a bushy, upright shrub that is perfect for the back of a mixed border. This rose is also particularly suitable for forming a magnificent impenetrable flowering hedge.
  • Best grown in full sun in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Strong disease resistance
  • Summer pruning will help to maintain the height and encourage quicker repeat flowering.
  • David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease-resistance and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
