A magnificent old rose introduced in 1853, Rosa 'Gloire de Dijon' is a climber with strongly fragrant, fully double, creamy-buff flowers sometimes tinged pink, 4 in. across (10 cm). Counting up to 40 petals, they are produced in flushes from midsummer to fall. Abundant, they stand out well against the lustrous, deep green foliage. 'Gloire de Dijon' is one of the best-loved of all climbing roses. Free-flowering, it is ideal for training up walls and fences, where the lovely flowers can be enjoyed.

  • Grows up to 8-15 ft. tall (240-450 cm) and 8 ft. wide.
  • Best grown in full sun, in moist, moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soils. While shade tolerant, best flower production and disease resistance usually occur in full sun. For best flowering apply a balanced fertilizer and mulch in late winter or early spring and a balanced fertilizer again in early summer
  • An excellent choice for arbors, fences, and other garden structures. Plant this rose where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck.
  • Good disease resistance.
  • Remove spent flowers to encourage rebloom.
  • Propagate by hardwood cuttings in autumn or by chip budding in summer
