An outstanding variety particularly suited to American gardening conditions, English Rose Carding Mill (Auswest) features large (3in. – 7 cm), fully double, cupped blossoms (80 petals) in breathtaking shades of pink, rich apricot, and soft yellow. Slightly nodding, they carry a strong and beautiful myrrh fragrance and offer a stunning contrast against the foliage of disease-resistant, semi-glossy, medium green leaves. Introduced by David Austin in 2004, this rose will quickly form a lovely, healthy, bushy rose shrub.
- Blooming in flushes from late spring to fall, this rose was awarded the National Home Gardening Club Member Tested & Recommended Seal of Approval.
- Grows up to 4 feet tall (120 cm) and 3.5 feet across (105 cm).
- Featuring a lovely bushy habit and rounded form, this ravishing and very vigorous rose shrub is a good repeat bloomer whose striking beauty allows it to be treated as a specimen plant in the landscape. It is also a superb addition to the border, may be used for hedging and its medium size allows it to fit small gardens or large containers.
- Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck. Excellent cut flowers.
- Best grown in full sun or part shade in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
- Summer pruning will help to maintain the height and encourage quicker repeat flowering.
- This rose was named after an extremely beautiful valley in the Long Mynd, a scenic area of hills and moors close to David Austin's display gardens in Shropshire, England.
- David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As a Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease resistance, and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
