Rosa Boscobel (English Rose)

Bred by David Austin, English Rose Boscobel is an absolute beauty that produces fully double clusters of cupped rosettes whose color invariably draws attention. The flowers start as red buds which open at first to pretty cups, gradually developing into perfectly formed blooms of a rich salmon color that change with age to a rich, deep pink. The numerous petals (78 petals per flower) are of varying shades, providing the most delightful effect. They exude a medium to strong myrrh fragrance with a hawthorn character and hints of elderflower, pear, and almond. Irresistible!

• Blooming in flushes from late spring until frost, this is an excellent repeat bloomer.
• Grows up to 3 feet tall (90 cm) and spreads 2.5 feet wide (70 cm). Upright in habit, this medium size shrub features a dark green, glossy foliage. It is ideal for the back of the border, where it makes a striking statement, and is perfect for containers. Spectacular when combined with the cool blue colors of salvia, nepeta, or lavender.
• Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck.
• Performs best in full sun, in rich, fertile, well-drained soils with adequate moisture.

• This lovely rose was named after Boscobel House, a beautiful timber-framed house built in 1632 and famous for being the place where King Charles II hid in an oak tree whilst being pursued by Cromwell’s soldiers during the English Civil War in 1651.
