Limonium – Sea Lavender

Limonium (Sea Lavender) is a genus of 120 flowering plants, including annuals, deciduous or evergreen perennials, and woody shrubs. The plants produce simple or pinnately lobed leaves and showy panicles of everlasting, small flowers with colored tubular calyces and ephemeral petals. Prized in fresh or dried bouquets, the flowers are usually pink, lavender or purple, but some species boast white or yellow blossoms. Popular garden flowers, they are perfect fillers in the border, where their papery flowers in bright or pastel colors weave among other plants. Many species bloom in saline soils, and are therefore common near coasts and in salt marshes.
