Osteospermum 'Serenity Bronze' (African Daisy) is a bushy, evergreen, tender perennial with a profusion of very large daisy flowers with soft, bronze orange petals that change to pink as they near the deep crimson centers. In cool summer climates, these beautiful flowers will produce a long-lasting display from spring to frost. In hot summer climates, they will bloom their head off from spring to early summer, stop to a complete standstill during hot, dry weather until the weather turns cool again in the fall. At peak time, the blooms are so abundant that they literally cover the foliage of oval green leaves. Compact and well-branched, this is a great addition to sunny borders, containers. Excellent for erosion control on slopes.

  • Grows with a mounding habit up to 10-14 in. tall (25-35 cm) and 14-20 in. wide (35-50 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in moderately fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates drought and neglect but looks better with good garden soil and irrigation. Osteospermums generally dislike hot and humid summers.
  • To be grown as annuals in areas beyond hardiness range
  • Perfect addition for beds and borders, cottage gardens, city gardens, rock gardens, Mediterranean gardens, coastal gardens or containers.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant.
  • Watch for aphids, downy mildew and verticillium wilt.
  • Tip-pinch young plants to promote bushiness. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong bloom. Propagate by softwood cuttings in late spring or semi-hardwood cuttings in late summer.
