Oligoneuron album (White Goldenrod)

Noted for its striking floral display, Oligoneuron album (White Goldenrod) is a compact and low-growing perennial forming an open dome of flat-topped clusters bearing white daisy flowers with yellow disk centers. Blooming from midsummer to fall, the dainty blossoms are nectar rich and great for butterflies and pollinators while birds feast on the seeds. They are borne atop sturdy stems covered in fine hairs and rise above the basal foliage of shiny dark-green, narrow and willow-like leaves, 6 in. long (15 cm). Easy to grow, adapted to difficult growing conditions, Prairie Goldenrod is suitable for perennial borders or rock gardens where it brings cheerful late season color.

• Grows up to 12-18 in. tall and wide (30-45).
• Thrives in full sun or part shade in average, neutral, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Drought and poor soil tolerant. In very rich soil, this plant grows more robust and loses its delicate appearance.
• Vital ingredient of late summer and fall beds and borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, prairies and meadows or butterfly gardens. Valued for the excellent quality of its cut flowers.
• No serious pest or disease issues. Deer resistant.
• Propagate from seed in fall, or by division in early spring. Seeds are slow to germinate.
• Native to the eastern and central United States.
