Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima) is a fabulous little plant that should not be overlooked! Low maintenance, trouble-free, and drought tolerant, it produces a profusion of delightfully scented flowers that will quickly cover your beds and borders with a sea of flowers beautifully mixing with your other annuals or perennials. It will also cascade richly from your containers or hanging baskets and beautify your rock garden. Use it as a ground cover, as an edging, and in paving cracks too!

  • An old-time favorite with its incredibly long blooming season extending from late spring to frost, Sweet Alyssum is extremely fragrant and exists in white, purple, or pink and apricot. Loved by butterflies, it is hardy to USDA 9 – 11 and grown as an annual in cooler areas.
  • Grows in mounds up to 12 inches tall (30 cm) and spreads 10-18 inches (25-45 cm)
  • Prefers full sun locations and enjoys average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. While tolerant of high summer temperatures, some afternoon shade would be appreciated in hot weather areas. Water regularly for best performance.
  • Fertilize regularly. Shear plants back by one-half after the first flush of bloom to promote new blooms.
