In late spring, whorls of 5-6 yellow flowers, each about 3/4 in. long (7-10 cm), arise from the leaf axils. Each tubular, two-lipped flower is adorned with some reddish-brown markings on the lower lip. Yellow Archangel spreads by short underground stolons and can be somewhat invasive where happy. It is best used where allowed to roam freely as it can be difficult to control. A useful plant for filling in shaded areas where little else grows. Semi-evergreen in warm winter climates
