Heuchera Autumn Leaves (Coral Bells)

Changes its personality as the days grow longer! In spring, the mid-sized leaves emerge red, change to taupe in summer, then deepen to ruby red in fall.

Bred for heat and humidity tolerance, Heuchera 'Autumn Leaves' is a particularly interesting variety of Coral Bells with its foliage of lobed, rounded leaves changing color throughout the seasons. In spring, the mid-sized leaves emerge red, change to taupe in summer, then deepen to ruby red in fall.

  • In early-mid summer, panicles of small, bell-shaped, creamy white flowers rise up to 18 in. (45 cm) above the semi-evergreen foliage. This Heuchera is also prized by gardeners for its drought tolerance.
  • This clump-forming perennial forms basal mounds, up to 8 in. tall (20 cm) with a spread of 15 in. (37 cm). This sturdy performer is not only easy to grow, but also requires little maintenance and is virtually pest and disease free!
  • Performs best in part shade, in richhumusymedium moisturewell-drained soils. If grown in full sun, make sure the soil remains consistently moist or the foliage might decline. Thrives in dry shade, once established. It is attractive to butterflies and often ignored by deer.
  • A spectacular addition to bedsbordersrock gardenswoodland gardens and is ideal as groundcoveredger along paths or in containers. Fabulous when planted in groups!
  • Divide clumps in spring every 3-4 years.
  • Remove stems of faded flowers to promote additional bloom. Apply winter mulch after the ground freezes to help prevent root heaving.
