Award-winning Farfugium japonicum 'Aureomaculatum' (Leopard Plant) is a clump-forming, rhizomatous perennial with large, kidney-shaped, glossy rich green leaves, up to 10 in. across (25 cm), heavily speckled with creamy-yellow. Evergreen in warm winter climates, the foliage dies to the ground when temperatures fall to 20ºF (-6ºC). In late summer to fall, clusters of yellow daisy flowers, up to 1.5 in. across (4 cm), bloom on 2 ft. tall (60 cm) branched stems that rise above the foliage. This big-leafed, water-loving plant is perfect for woodland gardens, bog gardens, borders, along ponds and streams. A choice container plant too.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 2 ft. tall and wide (60 cm).
  • Performs best in partial shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Protect from strong, drying winds. In colder climates, provide a deep winter mulch.
