Citrus x limon Eureka Pink Variegated (Lemon)

A sport of the popular Eureka lemon, Citrus x limon ‘Eureka Pink Variegated’ is a medium-sized, evergreen tree prized for its variegated foliage and round fruits. When young, the fruit is covered with green and creamy-yellow stripes. When fully ripe, the stripes fade, and the rind turns creamy-yellow with distinct pink oil glands. The flesh is pale pink when mature, low-seeded, and very acidic.

  • Grows up to 12-15 ft. tall and wide (360-450 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in sandy, neutral or acidic, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade but performs best in full sun. Needs water regularly but cannot stand flooding or saturated soils.
  • Eureka Lemon is more sensitive to cold than any of the lemon fruits. Grow it indoors in a warm, sunny room and move it outdoors in late spring to a sunny spot protected from the wind.
  • This tree requires pruning to keep the appropriate size.
  • Generally disease free. Keep an eye out for citrus red spider mite, glasshouse red spider mite, soft scale, and fluted scale, aphids, caterpillars, and mealybugs under glass.
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings and grafting.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
