Cercis – Redbuds
Adaptable and dependable, Cercis (Redbuds) are deciduous shrubs or small trees of great beauty. In early spring, they are most striking with their profuse clusters of bright pink pea-flowers, which are followed by flattened, deep purple pods that persist into winter. Equally attractive is their foliage of heart-shaped leaves which warms up to bright golden yellow in the fall. The leafless branches form an attractive silhouette in winter. Lovely across the seasons, Redbuds are perfect for shrub borders or foundation plantings.
