Introduced by David Austin in 2006, Rosa Lady of Megginch bears bold, deep rose-pink blooms, with just a hint of coral, that do not fade in color especially during the summer. The flowers are large, full double, cup-shaped counting over 100 petals. A prolific bloomer, even in extreme heat, this is a vigorous and healthy shrub with a very attractive foliage and a good fruity Old Rose fragrance with a hint of raspberry. May be pruned to grow into a medium or large shrub. An irresistible variety of English Rose!
- Blooming in flushes from late spring until frost, it is an excellent repeat bloomer that is highly reliable.
- Grows up to 4 feet tall (120 cm) and spreads 3 feet wide (90 cm), it makes a good flowering hedge and is perfect in beds and borders. Spectacular when combined with the cool blue colors of salvia, nepeta or lavender.
- Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
- This lovely rose was named after the family home, Megginch Castle in Perth, Scotland, of the late Baroness Strange, who was President of the War Widows' Association until her death in 2005. She did much good work on behalf of war widows and was well known for her love of flowers and her rose garden.
