Taxus baccata David (English Yew)

Taxus baccata ‘Davidi’ (English Yew) is a dense, narrowly columnar, evergreen shrub forming a splendid exclamation point in the landscape. Its tightly packed, erect branches are clothed in narrow green leaves edged with gold, which hold their brilliant color throughout the year. This male cultivar does not produce conspicuous, coral-red seed-bearing cones. Perfect for small gardens, foundations or rock gardens.

Its tightly packed, erect branches are clothed in narrow green leaves edged with gold, which hold their brilliant color throughout the year. This male cultivar does not produce conspicuous, coral-red seed-bearing cones. Slow-growing, 4-6 in. per year (10-15 cm), this golden English Yew is ideal for providing year-round structure. It makes a wonderful specimen plant and adds a lovely vertical line in the garden. Perfect for small gardens, foundations or rock gardens.

  • A full sun to partial shade lover, this plant is easily grown in evenly moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates full shade as well as a wide range of soils.

  • No regular pruning necessary, but can be trimmed and shaped when required.
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings or grafting
