Recently introduced by David Austin, Rosa Wisley 2008 is an irresistible variety of English Rose which produces incredibly delicate and charming pink, fully double flowers that open from rounded, plump buds. The blooms are shallowly cupped and about 3 in. across (7 cm), packed with petals (about 95) arranged in a most perfect rosette formation – their color being a very pure soft pink and the outer petals paling a little towards the edge. They are nicely complimented by the medium green, semi-glossy foliage. Bushy and sturdy, this shrub rose is an excellent repeat bloomer with continuous (perpetual) blooms throughout the season. Rose 'Wisley 2008' emits a delightful, fresh, fruity fragrance with hints of raspberries and Tea.
- Blooming from late spring until frost, it produces its lovely flowers along the slightly arching stems and builds up into a fine and very healthy shrub.
- Awarded Best Rose for Landscaping at the 2009 Concurs Internacional de Roses, Barcelona.
- Growing up to 5 ft. tall (150 cm) and spreading 3-4 feet wide (90-120 cm), it makes a good flowering hedge and is an excellent choice for beds and borders. Spectacular when combined with the cool blue colors of salvia, nepeta or lavender.
- Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck. Excellent cut flowers.
- Best grown in full sun, in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
- Excellent resistance to disease.
- David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease-resistance and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
