Rosa The Mayflower (English Rose)
The Mayflower is very charming with its medium-sized, fully double, rose pink rosettes (140 petals), rich with a strong old rose fragrance. The unique features of this rose shrub are its complete resistance to blackspot, powdery mildew, or rust, and its continuous flowering – from very early in the season (earlier than any other roses) till frost.
Bred by David Austin, English Rose The Mayflower is very charming with its medium-sized, fully double, rose pink rosettes (140 petals), rich with a strong old rose fragrance. The unique features of this rose shrub are its complete resistance to blackspot, powdery mildew, or rust, and its continuous flowering – from very early in the season (earlier than any other roses) till frost. 'The Mayflower' is truly a small, compact, impressively bushy, and extremely healthy rose shrub with excellent vigor and quick repeat bloom that is rarely without flowers!
- Blooming in flushes from late spring until frost, this is an excellent repeat bloomer
- Won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
- Grows up to 4 feet tall (120 cm) and 3 feet wide (90 cm). This medium size rose bush forms a lovely shrub with small matt green leaves that compliment the blooms to perfection. It is ideal for the front of the border where it can be noticed or as hedges or screens. Spectacular when combined with the cool blue colors of salvia, nepeta, or lavender. Plant it where you will be able to enjoy its perfume daily: near a doorway, along a path, near your patio or deck. Excellent as cut flowers.
- Best grown in full sun or partial shade in rich, fertile, well-drained soils with adequate moisture.
- David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As a Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease resistance, and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
