English Rose Crocus Rose is a robust, free-flowering rose producing large clusters of cream-colored rosette-shaped flowers (41 petals), initially laced with soft apricot at the center. They are elegantly borne at the end of slightly arching stems and offer a lovely contrast against the medium green, semi-glossy foliage. This charming rose emits a delightful Tea Rose fragrance. Introduced by David Austin in 2000, this rose is a very good choice for US growing conditions, including those with very cold winters.
- Blooming in flushes from late spring to fall, this rose is an excellent repeat bloomer
- Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society
- Grows up to 4 ft. tall (120 cm) and 3 ft. across (90 cm).
- Forms a good, healthy, well-branched shrub whose striking beauty allows it to be treated as a specimen plant in the landscape. It is also a superb addition to the border, may be used for hedging and its medium size allows it to fit small gardens.
- Best grown in full sun in rich, fertile with adequate moisture, well-drained soils.
- Summer pruning will help to maintain the height and encourage quicker repeat flowering.
- David Austin’s English Roses combine the flower forms and perfume of Old Roses with the color range and repeat-flowering habits of modern roses. As a Rose breeder, David Austin’s achievement is in marrying the romantic “English Rose” look with reliable garden performance, vigorous growth, full bushes, disease resistance, and prolific season-long bloom. Over 200 English Roses have been released since 1961, many of them receiving the highest rewards.
