Persicaria / Fleeceflowers

Real beauties of the landscape, Persicaria (Fleeceflowers) are annuals, perennials, or sub-shrubs with showy white, pink, or red flowers in long-lasting spikes throughout the summer. Moisture-loving plants with creeping stems, they include a wide range of varieties with various heights and habits. Two well-behaved species worth planting in the garden are Persicaria amplexicaulis (Mountain Fleecefower) with its attractive flower wands and Persicaria polymorpha (Giant Fleeceflower) with its showy plumes. Many Persicarias are suitable in mixed containers or borders, others naturalized in woodland gardens or meadows.
