Oncidium – Dancing Lady Orchids

Oncidium are one of the largest and most popular cultivated orchid genera. Native to tropical and subtropical America, these orchids called Dancing Ladies or Butterfly orchids, usually produce long, branched, many-flowered, erect to arching inflorescences bearing small to fairly large flowers often in shades of yellow to brown, usually marked or blotched dark brown. They are mostly epiphytic orchids (growing on trees), forming clumps of ovoid to conical pseudobulbs, each with 1-3 mid-green, leathery leaves arising from the tips.
