Maianthemum – False Lily of the Valley

Useful as groundcover in woodlands and wild areas, Maianthemum are rhizomatous perennials with erect or arching stems bearing alternate leaves and tiny star-shaped flowers in terminal racemes or panicles, followed by red berries. Widespread across much of North America, Europe and Asia, they prefer full or partial shade and rich, moist, neutral to acidic soils.
