Leucospermum – Pincushions

Native to South Africa, Leucospermum (Pincushions) can be evergreen groundcovers, bushy shrubs, or small trees. They boast spectacular clusters of long, slender, often brightly-colored, tubular flowers held in large thistle-like heads. The ravishing blossoms make stunning cut flowers that last for a month in a vase. Rich in nectar, they attract birds and bees and add drama in the garden. Tolerant to coastal conditions such as winds, sandy soils, and salt-laden air, Pincushions require a sunny site with acidic, well-drained, lighter soils.
