Forsythia

Regarded as the harbingers of the spring season, Forsythias are fast-growing, vigorous deciduous shrubs of upright or gracefully arching habit. Blooming in late winter or early spring, before the leaves emerge, they produce brilliant yellow flowers in small clusters along their branches. The flower effect is spectacular, brightening the landscape at a time when not much else is in bloom. Their dense foliage of medium to dark green leaves sometimes turns yellow, gold, or purplish in the fall. Easy to grow and extremely adaptable, Forsythia can be used as a specimen, in a mixed border, or as a flowering hedge. Stunning in spring, Forsythia has little ornamental value in other seasons.
