Delphiniums

Stately and architectural, Delphiniums are annuals, biennials, or perennials with mounds of dark green, glossy foliage adorned by impressive flower spikes in late spring to early summer. Prized by many gardeners, they are available in a wide range of sizes, from dwarf varieties under 2 feet tall to those with towering, 6 feet blooms. Attractive to butterflies, they are ignored by deer and rabbits. Hardy, they thrive in areas with fairly cool and moist summers and do not fare well in hot, dry summers. Delphiniums are welcomed additions to beds, borders, and cottage gardens and make excellent cut flowers.
