Aruncus – Goat’s Beards
Adding elegance to the shade garden, Aruncus (Goat’s Beard) are clump-forming rhizomatous perennials boasting large plumelike panicles of small creamy flowers from early to mid-summer. Once the flowers are less prominent, the handsome billowing mound of fern-like, much-dissected leaves takes over, extending the visual appeal through fall when sometimes it turns brilliant shades of orange, red, or yellow. This is a spectacular plant when given sufficient moisture and dappled shade.
