Arisaema – Jack in the Pulpit
Noted for their unusual flowers, Arisaema are mostly tuberous perennials sporting gracefully arching spathes within which tiny flowers are clustered on a club-shaped fleshy spike. Blooming from early spring to early summer, they are followed by showy red berries. Known as jack-in-the-pulpits or cobra lilies, they are arresting woodland garden plants that thrive in well drained soils in partial to full shade.
