Amelanchier – Serviceberries
Providing three seasons of interest, Amelanchier are small deciduous trees or shrubs with a profusion of showy white flowers early in spring. Attractive to pollinators, they are followed by small, red to dark purple-black berries in summer. The berries are often used in jams, jellies and pies if not eaten by birds. Purplish in spring, the leaves turn deep green in summer and brilliant red, yellow or orange in the fall.
