Actinidia – Kiwis

Prized for their beauty, Actinidia are vigorous, mostly deciduous, twining climbers with handsome foliage all summer long, picturesque, contorted trunks, delicious fruits and no serious pest issues. Pleasantly scented flowers are borne during early summer. Easy to grow, most kiwi vines are dioecious, with separate male and female plants, but there are self-fertile cultivars. Edible fruits appear on female or hermaphrodite plants in early fall to the delight of everyone. Fast-growing, their splendid foliage will clothe sunny walls, arbors or trellises and create a terrific long-lasting feature.
