Hosta Stained Glass (Plantain Lily)

Hosta ‘Stained Glass’ (Plantain Lily) is a medium-sized perennial forming an overlapping mound of slightly convex, widely oval, bright golden-yellow leaves with irregular dark green margins and prominent veining. Large, pale purple, tubular flowers adorned with darker stripes appear in summer, rising on scapes 30 in. long (75 cm). A very eye-catching hosta for specimen planting, this sport of ‘Guacamole’ is also suitable for planting in mixed containers.

  • Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or containers. Great for underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
