Hosta Happy Dayz (Plantain Lily)
Hosta ‘Happy Dayz’ (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming a cheerful mound of large, thick, heart-shaped, lightly corrugated, brilliant yellow leaves with wide blue-green margins. As the season progresses, the yellow centers brighten to parchment and the margins turn dark green. Racemes of lavender flowers appear in midsummer, rising on scapes 32 in. tall (80 cm). Moderately fast-growing, this sport of award-winning ‘Orange Marmalade’ is excellent for borders but also suitable for planting in mixed containers and tubs.

- Grows 18 in. tall (45 cm) and 28 in. wide (70 cm).
- Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
- Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or containers.
- Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
- Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
- Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
