Hosta Gold Standard (Plantain Lily)
Vigorous and easy to grow, award-winning Hosta ‘Gold Standard’ (Plantain Lily) is a medium to large hosta forming a dense, overlapping mound of wide-oval, seersuckered, slightly cupped, chartreuse leaves. Irregularly margined dark green, the leaf centers change to golden yellow as the season progresses, before fading to white near in late summer.

Funnel-shaped pinkish lavender blooms appear in mid-summer, rising on scapes 42 in. long (105 cm) but the primary contribution of this hosta is its lovely foliage. A colorful specimen in the border and excellent in containers. 'Gold Standard' is the parent of many distinguished hostas.

- Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
- Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens or containers.
- Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
- Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
- Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
