Hosta Bulletproof (Plantain Lily)

Hosta 'Bulletproof' (Plantain Lily) is a medium-sized clump-forming perennial forming a neat and colorful mound of extremely thick, spear-shaped, intense blue leaves, 7 in. long (17 cm). The foliage retains its beautiful blue color late into the season if kept out of direct sunlight. Racemes of pale lavender flowers appear in midsummer on arching scapes reaching 24 in. (60 cm). The heavy substance of the leaves helps to make this hosta more slug resistant. A sport of award-winning Hosta 'Halcyon', this blue hosta is an ideal choice for growing in a container on the patio or along shady paths where its ravishing leaves can be appreciated.

• Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
