Corydalis shimienensis Berry Exciting (Fumewort)
Incredibly showy, Corydalis shimienensis ‘Berry Exciting’ (Fumewort) is a striking perennial forming an attractive mound of lacy, highly divided, brilliant yellow leaves adorned with green streaks. From early summer to fall, clusters of fragrant, dusky purple flowers are produced above the foliage, creating a terrific contrast.

From early summer to fall, clusters of fragrant, dusky purple flowers are produced above the foliage, creating a terrific contrast. Easy to grow, this Fumewort does not go summer dormant and tolerates heat and humidity. Its vigorous cascading habit makes it an excellent groundcover and looks great spilling out of baskets and over banks. Evergreen in mild winter regions.
- Grows in clumps, 10-14 in. tall (25-35 cm) and 24 in. wide (30 cm). Does not self-seed.
- Best in part shade, in moderately fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates full shade. Dislikes summer drought.
- Virtually disease free. Watch for snails and slugs.
- A great perennial plant for beds and borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens or woodlands
- Propagate by division in autumn
