Ideal to complement colorful perennials in beds or borders, award-winner Pearly Everlasting 'Sommerschnee' or 'Summer Snow' (Anaphalis triplinervis) is a rewarding bushy perennial topped with bountiful clusters of long-lasting, buttonlike flowers which are perfect for dried floral arrangements. More compact than the species, 'Sommerschnee' features shining white flowers atop mats of bright, silver-green, narrowly elliptic leaves. Anaphalis triplinervis is one of the few gray-foliaged plants that doesn't rot in moist soils or humid conditions.

  • Granted the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, this herbaceous perennial grows in spreading clumps, up to 8-10 in. tall (20-25 cm) and spreads 12-15 in. wide (30-37 cm).
  • Blooming from mid-summer to fall, the starry blossoms dry naturally on the plant and remain good-looking well into fall.
  • Provides color and contrast to beds, borders, and cottage gardens. Good ground cover at the front of a sunny border. Great as fresh-cut flowers or in dried arrangements.
  • Best grown in full sun in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade, but full sun is preferred. While this plant thrives in consistently moist soils, it dislikes winter wet. Foliage tends to wither if soils are allowed to dry out.
  • The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies, but deer resistant!
  • Low maintenance, it is disease and pest free!
  • Deadhead to lateral buds to keep the plant neat and fresh looking. Cut back in the fall. Propagate by division in early spring or root softwood cuttings in spring or early summer
