One of the earliest hybrid tulips to flower, Tulip 'Heart's Delight' naturalizes easily and is weather resistant. Blooming in early spring, the starry flowers are a real delight with their carmine red petals edged creamy-white on the outside, their pale pink interior, and yellow heart. Coupled with the handsomely mottled foliage, they make a beautiful sight in the garden. A fabulous cultivar of the Kaumanniana tulips.
- The flowers open wide during the sunny hours of the day providing an entirely different color effect than when closed. The flower shape also changes dramatically; when open they resemble a shining star.
- Growing only 8-10 inches tall (20-25 cm), this tulip naturalizes easily and will come back year after year to our delight! It creates dazzling harmonies with other bulbs such as crocus.
- Performs best in full sun in rich, fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Prefers areas with cool winters and warm dry summers.
- Easy to grow, this tulip is a welcomed addition to beds, borders, containers, rock gardens, or for naturalizing in grass. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 5 to 10 bulbs) or mixed with any other flowering bulbs.
- To be planted in fall.
- All parts may cause severe discomfort following ingestion, and may cause an allergic skin reaction. Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling.
- Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
