Tulipa Ancilla (Kaufmanniana Tulip)

Award-winning Tulip 'Ancilla' is a striking cultivar of the Kaumanniana tulips, with its flower petals, creamy-white with a golden center circled in red on the inside, running over to rose-red and soft pink on the outside.

  • The flowers open wide during the sunny hours of the day providing an entirely different color effect than when closed. The flower shape also changes dramatically; when open they resemble a shining star. The wavy-edged, lance-shaped foliage is quite attractive too. A beautiful sight on display in the early spring garden!
  • This tulip was granted the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1993
  • Growing only 8 inches tall (20 cm), this tulip naturalizes easily and will come back year after year to our delight! It creates dazzling harmonies with other bulbs such as crocus.
  • Performs best in full sun in rich, fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Prefers areas with cool winters and warm dry summers.
  • Easy to grow, this tulip is a welcomed addition to beds, borders, containers, rock gardens, or for naturalizing in grass. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 5 to 10 bulbs) or mixed with any other flowering bulbs.
  • To be planted in fall.
  • All parts may cause severe discomfort following ingestion and may cause an allergic skin reaction. Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
