Native to Croatia, award-winning Scilla litardierei (Amethyst Meadow Squill) is a clump-forming, bulbous perennial with up to 5 narrowly strap-shaped, semi-erect, basal leaves. In late spring to early summer, dense pyramidal spikes packed with tiny, star-shaped, violet-blue flowers can be enjoyed.

In late spring to early summer, dense pyramidal spikes packed with tiny, star-shaped, violet-blue flowers can be enjoyed. They last for about 3 weeks. A great naturalizer, Amethyst Meadow Squill multiplies and comes back year after year. Easy to grow, this is a lovely and useful plant that begins to bloom when there is often a lull in flowering between the spring bulbs and the summer perennials.

 - Grows up to 4-10 in. tall (10-25 cm) and 2-3 in. wide (5-7 cm).
 - Easily grown in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade. Water freely during the growing season and keep dry during summer dormancy.
 - Keep an eye out for stem and bulb eelworm and slugs.
 - To be planted in fall.
 - Propagate by seed or division
