Phalaris – Ribbon Grasses

Tough and tenacious, Phalaris (Ribbon Grass) are annual or rhizomatous perennial grasses sporting broadly linear, deep green leaves, adorned with longitudinal white stripes and turning buff-colored in the fall. These cool-season growers tend to spread aggressively by rhizomes and require regular maintenance to keep contained. However, properly sited, Ribbon Grasses are stunning additions to the garden, terrific as accents or groundcovers and worth the effort to control their spread.
