Celosia

Celosia is a small genus of edible and ornamental annuals, perennials or shrubs, with simple or lobed leaves and brightly colored flowers. There are 3 main types of plants: the Cristata group with crested cockscomb flowers, the Plumosa group with plume or flame flowers, and the Spicata group with flower spikes reminiscent of a sheaf of wheat. Blooming throughout summer into fall, sometimes until frost, these tropical plants are effective as bedding plants or in containers. The flowers can be cut for arrangements or dried as an everlasting bouquet.
