Aconitum – Monkshoods
Aconitum (Monkshood) are herbaceous perennials or biennials that add bold accents to the late summer and fall garden. The showy flowers are arranged in terminal racemes or panicles and mostly occur in various shades of blue or purple, but ivory, yellow and bicolors can be found. All Monkshoods have poisonous roots, leaves, and stems. Regardless of the poisonous properties, Aconitums are excellent garden plants.
