An incredibly pretty miniature Hosta, ‘Mini Skirt’ (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming a small, compact mound of very wavy, thick, blue-green leaves with creamy-yellow margins. As the season progresses, the leaf center turns more green and the edge lightens to creamy-white.

An incredibly pretty miniature Hosta, 'Mini Skirt' (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming a small, compact mound of very wavy, thick, blue-green leaves with creamy-yellow margins. As the season progresses, the leaf center turns more green and the edge lightens to creamy-white. Racemes of lavender flowers with deeper purple stripes appear in early to midsummer, on short scapes rising just above the foliage. Perfect for small gardens, rock gardens and containers!

  • Grows up to 5 in. tall (12 cm) and spreads 13 in. (32 cm).
  • Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
  • Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in bed and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens or containers. Great as a groundcover.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
