Hosta Komodo Dragon (Plantain Lily)

Among the largest hostas, ‘Komodo Dragon’ (Plantain Lily) is an outstanding perennial forming an impressive, vase-shaped, cascading mound of thick, widely oval, deeply veined and loosely rippled, dark blue-green leaves, 15 in. long (37 cm). Particularly attractive is the regular, shallow pie crust adorning the leaf edges.

  • A part shade to full shade lover, it is best grown in rich, moist, well-drained soils.
  • Perfect for the shade gardens, mixed with other perennials or as a specimen.
  • Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant's growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
